All of the paintings in this gallery were painted from the microscope from mineral micromounts. A mineral micromount is a natural mineral specimen, preferably in distinct crystals, permanently mounted in a protective box and requiring microscopic magnification for meaningful observation. These mineral specimens range in size from the head of a pin to the head of a thumbtack. It has been said that mineral micromounts are the flowers of the mineral kingdom. Our objective at Crystal Pocket Studios is to bring this micro world of beauty to a wider audience through our watercolor paintings.
